Volunteers Association for Bangladesh

VAB improves the education of poor students from rural Bangladesh for a brighter future. VAB's focus is high school education, but it also supports higher education, as its resources permit.

Our Mission

VAB embarked on its journey with the following mission:

VAB is firmly committed to contribute to improving the economic and social well-being of the rural people of Bangladesh, and recognizes that providing access and support to sustain high school education by students from poorer families is the most appropriate way to alleviate poverty and bring about meaningful changes at the family level and eventually at the societal level.

VAB’s two-pronged approach in support of our mission is to:

Provide necessary support to deserving students from poor families (thereby, among other things, reducing dropout rate) in obtaining high quality school education and skill training so that they may shape their future in a better and productive way.

Provide a modest need-based integrated package of support to selected partner high schools for nurturing an enabling environment and capacity at the institutional level. The expected benefits of this support will be more broad-based and potential leverage for larger reforms for quality education.

VAB's Core Focus

VAB's core focus is on rural youths. 70% of youths in Bangladesh live in the rural areas which are also the most underprivileged parts of the country.
Its core focus is on high school education and skill training of these youths. VAB believes helping them obtain quality high school education and acquire skills is the most essential way to provide them opportunities for a better life, for bringing about improvement of living standards at the family level and eventually at the societal level.

Our Vision

To develop an affordable and effective model of quality education in rural high schools, apply it to as many rural schools as possible, and establish it as the standard for quality rural education in the whole country.

Our Process

We raise funds in the USA, Bangladesh and elsewhere through our Head Office in the USA and our executing Office in Bangladesh.

②

We utilize those funds for high school education and skill training of rural youths in Bangladesh.

③

The lion's share of funds comes from individual philanthropists, with institutional grants accounting for a smaller portion.
