Notes

  • Schools marked with an asterisk are under the VAB School Improvement Program. VAB Programs are of two types: Scholarships and School Improvement. All 29 schools are under the VAB Scholarship Program; under this Program, 20 students from each school are awarded VAB High School Scholarships each year. Currently, schools are being brought under the VAB School Improvement Program on a gradual basis, and so far, 14 schools are under this Program, which provides library books, computers, science laboratory equipment, sports equipment as well as cultural and musical instruments to each school.  The variability of student-teacher ratio is striking, ranging from 17 to 76, with the larger schools having a higher student-teacher ratio, in general.  The average, falling in the 20-30 range, does not compare that unfavorably with developed countries.
