Funding
VAB seeks contributions from
individuals, foundations, corporate and government agency donors in
North America. Fundraising is done mostly through letter campaign, VAB
presentations at communities / preofessional gatherings, and meetings
and telephone contacts with potential donors. VAB maintains low overhead
expenses due to the diligent work of its volunteers. In fact, only 3%
of funds collected over the past three years have been used for
operational costs such as publicity materials, and post office box fees,
and Website maintenance.

Management and Accountability
VAB activities are managed by
a group of 30 active volunteers each from US and Bangladesh.
VAB gives grants in installments
and supervises their use in Bangladesh through its structure
comprising Country Representative, VAB Working Group and VAB
Advisory Council who reviews the work, visits operations in
the field and makes recommendations regarding subsequent
grants. In 2002, VAB employed an evaluation team of four
researchers from Dhaka university, which has examined its past
three years activities, documented the success of VAB’s
programs, and has made recommendations for improving the
efficiency and administration of future activities.
VAB’s President visits
Bangladesh
every year, at his own expense, to monitor programs and work towards making
them self-sustaining. VAB publishes an annual report as well as two
newsletters per year detailing to donors how their contributions are being
used.
VAB’s
operations are completely transparent and open to inspection by donors and
others.
